Bananas are full of goodness and with our banana and banana products, you can create some great dishes for you and your family packed full of taste and nutrition.

Bananas and your Nutrition and Health

Self-contained, portable and nutritious, bananas rank among the healthiest fruits for a number of reasons. A single serving of one medium yellow banana weighs in at approximately 100 calories and includes 2.8 grams of dietary fibre and 1 gram of protein.

Bananas are also rich in A and B vitamins, with more B6 than any other fruit. Plus Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin and Folic Acid. They also contain small amounts of vitamin C, calcium and magnesium, and traces of iron and zinc.

They contain very little sodium and are easily digested by all ages. In fact, pureed bananas are often one of the first solid foods for babies.

Bananas are also an especially rich source of the mineral potassium, which fuels the muscles and aids in contraction, making them an ideal snack just prior to any kind of physical activity. Yet another benefit to pre-activity consumption lies in the high carbohydrate content of bananas (about 28 grams per serving), which allows the body to efficiently convert the fruit into usable fuel, plus providing a sustained fuel release.

At Moorhead & Rutter we take great pride in our produce. Maintaining the high quality of our fruit year round is an integral part of our growing program.
